Shell Prep

Equipment: 220 Grit Sandpaper, Rubbing Alcohol, Clean cloth, Steel wool or Scotch Brite® pad

  1. Take the 220 Grit Sandpaper and begin buffing the edges of the thermoplastic shell until there is no longer a rough edge. Work your way all the around outside to ensure an even finish on all edges of the shell.
  2. Once the sharp edges have been smoothed out, take the steel wool or Scotch Brite® pad to give a final buff to the shell for a finished shine.
  3. Using a clean cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol, gently scrub the shell to remove any excess shavings and debris.
  4. The neoprene spacers in the kit may have a residue of talc on the surface, clean with rubbing alcohol or a damp cloth if a shiny black spacer is desired.

Platform Prep

Equipment: Screwdriver, Steel Wool/Scotch Brite, Rubbing alcohol, clean cloth

  1. Take the small end of the screwdriver and gently press any leftover cut-outs to reveal the ventilated platform.
  2. Using the same steel wool or Scotch Brite pad that was used on the shell, gently smooth the edges of the platform.
    • This step ensures a comfortable fit when the platform is against the skin.
  3. When all edges of the platform have been buffed, take a clean cloth dipped in rubbing alcohol to clean the entire polymer platform. Once all of the excess shavings have been removed, the platform is now ready to have the shell installed.

Final Assembly

Installing The Shell

  1. Before attaching the shell, verify that all of the hardware is available before assembling.
  2. There are two different textured sides on the platform:
    • The soft, smooth side that is engraved with the logo and firearm model is the back; this is the side that will be positioned against the body.
    • The shiny black pebbled surface is the front; this is the side where the shell will be attached to the platform.
  3. Each attachment point between the shell and the platform require 4 pieces of hardware:
    • Medium Screw
    • Finishing Washer
    • Neoprene Spacer
    • Slotted Barrel nut
    • If you are missing a piece of hardware please contact the Warranty Department at 801.407.4239 ext. 104 or warranties@stealthgearusa.com
  4. Align the barrel nut on the back of the platform with the pre-cut holes. Place the neoprene spacer on top of the barrel nut. Take a medium screw, finishing washer and shell; align them with the spacer and barrel nut on the platform.
  5. Press the shell and platform together to align the threads of the screw with the barrel nut. Be sure to hold the barrel nut in place on the back of the platform to prevent spinning, tighten the screw just enough to hold the shell in place.
  6. Repeat steps 2-4 until the new shell has been attached to the platform.

  1. Before attaching the new shell onto the platform, verify that all of the hardware is available before assembling.
    • If you are switching from an AIWB to a Scorpion shell, the long screws that were used to hold the clips on the AIWB will not be needed to attach the Scorpion shell.
    • Replacement hardware can be found on our website at stealthgearusa.com
  2. Each attachment point between the shell and the platform require 4 pieces of hardware: (Picture of what the order should be)
    • Medium Screw
    • Finishing Washer
    • Neoprene Spacer
    • Barrel nut
  3. Press the shell, hardware and platform together to align the threads of the screw with the t-nut. While holding the t-nut in place on the back of the platform in place to prevent spinning, tighten the screw just enough to hold the shell in place.
  4. Repeat steps 2-3 until the new shell has been attached to the platform.

    • * It might take a few tries to align the screws correctly, just take your time! *
  4. Repeat steps 7-8 if a second clip is desired.
  5. If you do not want to attach a second clip, refer to steps 4-5 to finish attaching the shell to the platform.

Adjust Retention

  1. Retention for all SGUSA holsters can be adjusted based on user preference.
  2. How to test the retention on your holster:
    • ENSURE THAT YOUR FIREARM IS UNLOADED
    • Double check that your firearm is unloaded!
    • Put the holster on your waistband and insert the firearm in the holster – you should hear the “click” as the firearm is fully seated into the holster.
    • Draw the unloaded firearm to test the retention. Re-holster and draw again a few times to get a good feel for the retention and how you would like to adjust it.
    • Use the Phillip’s screwdriver to adjust accordingly, tighten or loosen the screws by 1/8 turn. Check the retention again with your unloaded firearm. Repeat steps D & E until desired retention has been reached.
    • NOTE: Retention should be checked regularly. It is recommended to use a thread locking liquid to secure the hardware once the level of retention that best suits your needs has been found.
